A three-legged lion and his brother made the longest recorded swim across a crocodile-infested river

Two lion brothers, one with an amputated leg, were spotted making a record-breaking night swim through treacherous waters in Uganda’s Queen Elizabeth National Park. This swim is believed to be the longest documented swim by lions. The lions crossed the crocodile-infested Kazinga Channel in search of females after losing fights to another group of male lions. The lion population in the park is dropping, and threats such as poaching and human encroachment contribute to their decline. Lions are social creatures, and male lions stick together for better survival chances. Swimming across the channel was a risky decision made due to limited living spaces and the need for mates.
